Before anything, congratulations on receiving third place in Spring contest! I'm honored to be the one chosen for a critique.
The asymmetrical balance in composition, with the uneven petals and mirror image within the water droplet, allows the viewers to travel and stay in tune with the photo without getting bored; it keeps them entertained. The wonderful use of DoF (Depth of field) gives this picture an 'Alluring' sense and the various hues of pinks and greens practically scream out spring. The repeating tones in the picture really unifies your composition. However, the various tints of color gives it variety; allowing a non-boring effect. Also, to chose pink and green as the main contributing hues was an amazing choice; red and green are complimentary colors (placed on opposite ends of the color wheel) and pink, being a tint of red, gives the same complimentary feel, yet not as intense in contrast. The sharpness and placement of the petal and droplet really emphasize its importance in the piece, therefore subordinating the rest of the photo. The petals itself, along with the different tones in color are great directional forces. Overall, this piece was magnificently executed in both technique and subject choice. Wonderful.
